You may have noticed that MagSRT -- both the original formula, and the B-Free formula -- no longer contain Vitamin C (as Ascorbyl Palmitate).
We've switched to L-Leucine, an essential amino acid.
Why did we make the switch?
Well, we were never using Ascorbyl Palmitate for it's Vitamin C content. (We only ever used a tiny amount -- just 2.5mg per tablet.)
We used Ascorbyl Palmitate as a lubricant because it's naturally "slippery", and keeps tableting machines from "gunking" up.
(We produce roughly 50 million tablets per year, so it's important to make sure the machines run smoothly and efficiently.)
Years ago -- by popular demand -- we used Ascorbyl Palmitate to replace Magnesium Stearate & Stearic Acid since there are some who dislike these two ingredients for various reasons.
And everyone was happy with this change for the past several years until Morley Robbins... ;-)
Morley is the creator of the Root Cause Protocol, and many Jigsaw Health customers follow the RCP.
Morley (aka. "Magnesium Man") has been personally taking MagSRT for nearly 9 years.
Morley is a good friend and a valued member of Jigsaw's Scientific Advisory Board.
In the past few years, he's compiled significant research that suggests any form of "synthetic" Vitamin C will decrease the amount of bioavailable Copper in the body.
Even though MagSRT used a negligible amount of Ascorbyl Palmitate (again, just 2.5mg per tablet), we decided to research alternatives.
As such, we've switched to L-Leucine, which is an essential amino acid that also has "slippery" properties and can be used as a lubricant.
Thankfully, this change does not alter the time-release (SRT) profile, nor does it change the effectiveness of the formula in any way.
So basically, it's good news all around! :)
Also...
Finally, one other change we are making to both versions of MagSRT is with the thin outer coating which helps make the pills easier to swallow, and keeps them from getting chalky when they rub against each other in the bottle -- we're switching from an isopropyl-alcohol solution (that can be a little smelly) to a water-based solution.
"When are these changes being made?"
- Both changes are already in place for MagSRT (B-Free) as of Lot #1809011 which began shipping a few weeks ago.
- Lot #1803001 of MagSRT (original formula) has the change from Ascorbyl Palmitate to L-Leucine. It also began shipping a few weeks ago.
- Lot #1807016 of MagSRT (original formula) will have both changes, but will not begin shipping until January or February of 2019.
